Reading Group #22 – Ukraine, War, and Anarchism

The London Anarchist Federation’s monthly reading group will have its third session on the 15th of March at 19:00 at Decentre, just above Freedom Bookshop (84B Whitechapel High St, London, E1 7QX). The bookshop will likely be closed by that time so we will be using the back door to the freedom building, further into the alleyway than the bookshop entrance.

In the context of the war in Ukraine, we will be discussing an article composed by anarchists in Ukraine that contributes to the global discussion amongst anarchists on how to position against Russia’s military aggression without taking sides with NATO or the Ukrainian extreme right. We also recommend reading a very short critique of this article by anarchists who find it interesting but point to several problems that could be addressed in the discussion. We hope it will spark a constructive, respectful and interesting debate.

War and Anarchists: Anti-Authoritarian Perspectives in Ukraine

Our Response to CrimethInc’s “War and Anarchists” in Ukraine

Those who are the most interested in the topic can also read also the article entitled “A Very Long Winter” and/or one or more of those selected by Three Way Fight, although those are facultative readings and thus not necessary to read for participating in our discussion.

This goes without saying, but we do not endorse all the actions and publications of their respective authors.

Hopefully it will pique your interest. Attending every month is not a requirement – just come along when we’re discussing a topic or a text you like!
