As the current world system becomes more unstable and ecological, political and economic crisis succeed each other, the situation of everyday people becomes more and more desperate. For people living under the British state, it’s expected that the cost of living will rise dramatically: food, energy and other essential needs will become even more expensive. As anarchists, we know we can’t remain passive in the face of this attack and we can’t rely on the state to solve it for us. We must self-organise to address our needs, survive and thrive along the principles of mutual aid, autonomy and anti-hierarchy. But this time we don’t want to wait until the very last moment to do it, we want to be ready. To help with this, we are calling for an open assembly where everyone can share their knowledge and experience about the effects this crisis is going to have and work together to come up with ideas on how we can fight back against it by organising in our neighbourhoods. We don’t expect everyone who comes to the meeting to be able to organise together, as the solutions will be extremely local by necessity. But we hope we can inspire each other to start our own local projects and maybe even meet a few co-conspirators living near us with whom to start planning.
This event is open to everyone who believes trying to organise non-hierarchically with others to provide for each other without relying on systems of domination like capitalism and the state and in a way that doesn’t reproduce white supremacy, heteropatriarchy, ableism, transphobia and other forms of oppression.
This event will be held on the 16th of April, at HalKevi social center, 31-33 Dalston Lane, Hackney, E8 3DF. It will run from 2pm to 5pm.
